The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) is a public institution of research and higher education in the fields of engineering, architecture, sciences and technology, and one of the leading technical universities in Europe. The UPC is one of the largest universities in Spain, with more than 30,000 students, 3,000 teaching and research staff, 20 colleges and 206 research groups. The mission of UPC is to create knowledge, innovate, to develop technology and transfer it to society. The UPC works to guide innovation and to be the preferential technology partner for local and international companies and institutions.
The UPC receives 57.7 million euro in research projects. It is the first Spanish university and the third institution in European funding from projects of the Horizon 2020 program with over 100 projects, 30 of them as a coordinator. The UPC also participates in other European funded projects: 18 (3 of the as coordinator).
The research team in DRAC is composed by researchers from the Department of Electronic Engineering and the Department of Computer Architecture. The former provide experience on integrated circuit design in advanced technology nodes, while the latter provide experience in operating system design and high performance computer architectures. Both groups have a long experience in European and national projects, among them: TOGETHER (Towards Trusted Low-Power Things: Devices, Circuits and Architectures, TEC2016-75151-C3-2-R), TRAMS (Terascale Reliable Adaptive Memory Systems, FP7 ICT-2009), RECIPE (H2020, 2018-2021), y Mont-Blanc 2020 (H2020, 2017-20). The UPC is a member of the Spanish Red RISCV through the research groups participating in DRAC.
